Statement of Mission

Camp Paxson provides an intentional Christian environment committed to strengthening each camper's relationship with God and all His creation through scripture, nature and recreation.
Philosophy

Camp Paxson believes that in a camp setting, the study of the Bible and nature, in the context of wholesome social relationships and recreation, will place campers and guests in a Christ-centered environment which promotes physical, mental and spiritual development.
Goals

To provide an outdoor camping experience which will lead to an acceptance of Christ as Savior and Lord and will encourage Christian growth.

Each camper will participate in cabin worships, camp council, campfire, and Sabbath services.

Each camper will be given the opportunity to accept Jesus as his/her personal Savior.

Each camper will be involved in one nature activity in which he/she can observe God in nature.

To provide opportunities that stimulate the development of each camper's self-esteem.

Staff will find something positive to share about each camper during campfire at least once per week.

Each camper will participate in at least one activity to promote self-esteem, which could include participating in campfires, camp council, recreation and cabin leadership.

Campers will participate in getting-to-know-you games during the first 24 hours of camp.

Staff will provide the campers with positive comments and encouragement throughout their stay.

Each camper will be involved in sharing learned skills with the rest of camp during demonstration day.

To help each camper appreciate his or her natural surroundings and take an active role in the conservation of our environment.

Each campfire will include a Nature Nugget provided by staff or campers.

Each camper will participate in some nature activity, which could include one of the following: hiking, Nature Nuggets, canoe trail, or Sabbath School.

Each camper will be informed of the importance of taking care of their camp and the type of things that they need to do, such as picking up litter, staying on trails, not picking flowers, respecting property (no graffiti), and conserving water. They will have daily opportunities to practice these.

To provide situations for each camper to set goals and challenge him or her while discovering his or her own skills and abilities.

Each camper will participate in at least two activities during the week that will personally challenge him or her such as hiking, crafts, canoeing, acronastics, water sports, archery or basketball.

Campers will learn at least one new skill while at camp.

To allow each child to experience group living.

Each camper will participate each day in at least one camp duty.

Each camper will live in a cabin with other campers. Within these cabins, campers will be part of a community, making decisions and keeping the area clean.
